Putnam Early Education Partnership Plans Training Conference

CARMEL, N. Y. -- Those who work with young children can get additional training through a Saturday conference at Carmel High School organized by Putnam Early Education Partnership.

The educational event runs from 8 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. Saturday in Casey Hall at the high school, 30 Fair St., Carmel. It is presented by the Putnam Early Education Partnership, a group of organizations including the Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, the Lower Hudson Valley Early Childhood Direction Center and more.

Those who attend the conference can earn professional development credit or training hours through the Office of Child and Family Services, organizers said. The three workshops are: Understanding the EI and CPSE Referral Process, Understanding Sensory Exploration for the Developing Mind and Practical Art Activities for Early Childhood Staff, and a panel discussion with speech and occupational therapist, a behavioral specialst and more.

The focus is education for the preschool and daycare settings, organizers said. Putnam Early Education Partnership (PEEP) is a collaborative group comprised of individuals from PARC Preschool (Putnam ARC), Putnam County Early Intervention and Preschool Programs, the Child Care Council of Dutchess and Putnam, the Lower Hudson Early Childhood Direction Center, Putnam Independent Living Services, Putnam Family and Community Services, and the Brewster and Carmel school districts.
